In collaboration with indigenous visual artist of Paiwan Reretan Pavavaljung, we created a series of original illustrations, brought to life through carefully crafted embroidery, stitch by stitch.
Each illustration is inspired by entering the mountains and forests —
some humorous, some educational, some imaginative

*Illustration Story
《Before the Mountain》
/ Learn how to approach a mountain, and the mountain will teach you how to face life.
/ The more we learn and prepare, the more the scenery changes once we set out.
1. The Lost Wanderer
Learn as you go.
Be polite and listen carefully to make the journey of the unknown more fascinating.
* Even with GPS, it is always possible to lose our way.
What helps us along the way may be fellow hikers or local people.
Approaching the mountains with kindness and humility can make the journey safer and more rewarding.
* The torii gate: symbolizes a boundary — the beginning of entering a sacred realm.
* Compared to the vastness of the mountains, we are small,
like wanderers who have accidentally found their way into something much greater.
2. Live In Harmony
Behind the myth is the respect and love for nature.
Harmony requires imagination and practice.
*Inspired by the concept of animism, where every object is believed to possess its own spirit.
By extending this idea, we can learn to treat more things with respect —
like naming a beloved car, and caring for it as we would a friend or family member.
Stones, water, trees, and houses are all familiar elements of myth.
They are not merely objects, but memories left behind by time.
*Stones remember the weight of mountains.
*Water carries the direction of its flow.
*Trees learn how to stand in the wind.
*Houses gather the lives and wishes of those within them.
